5 questions!

The rules of this game are that you answer the questions posed by the person who tags you, and then you leave 5 new questions for people to answer.

1. What is your favorite food to eat for breakfast?

WOW so many options, how could I possible choose one. Well here are a FEW. My dad's pancakes with just butter and sugar on them. French toast with powdered sugar, syrup and strawberries. Crepes with butter and syrup oozing out the ends when you roll them up. Extra crispy bacon with a med-rare steak and scrambled eggs with pepper jack cheese melted on top. and finally a bowl of cereal...it doesn't matter what type as long as it is sugar coated (or can be coated with sugar) and doesn't contain raisins!

2. What personal accomplishment are you most proud of and why?

I would have to say that obtaining my Young Women Personal Progress award is one thing that I am most proud of. I really struggled with obtaining all the requirements. My mom pushed me to finish and there were times when I was sure she wanted to give up, but I am sure glad and proud to say that I finished.

3. What's the last book you read, and would you recommend it?

Oh man, I haven't read a book in a while. I think the last one I read all the way through was The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. I love all of his work because it is well written and interesting. I think I have read all of his books in one sitting. They just suck me in to the point where I can't stop reading.

4. Describe the organization (or lack thereof) of your closet. Are your clothes arranged by type, color, season, something else? Is there something about it you'd like to change/add to make it better/easier to use?

The organization level of my close is at about a 6 out of 10. My clothes are arranged by type. First I have coats, then dresses/skirts, jeans and dress pants, tanks, nice/dress shirts, then T-shirts and finally my wedding dress! I tried to arrange them by color at one point, but that didn't last long at all!
If I could add something to my closet it would be about 50 square feet!

5. What is one talent/skill you'd like to develop and why?

I would love to learn how to play the organ. I love playing the piano so much and the organ just seems to cool! It would add a whole other dimension to some of my favorite music...the hymns!

Cooking?

I love cooking and feel that I am passable at it. I would love to learn how to cook my mom's rolls and my dad's pancakes.

Decorating?

Cake decorating is also a skill that I would like to develop. I don't plan on doing anything more with the talent then making awesome birthday cakes for my future children, but it has always been something I wanted to be better at.

Hairstyling?

I love styling my own hair! I did my own hair for my wedding and have already decided how I want to wear it for graduation and already practiced!
I wish I could style other people's hair with the same ease that I can do my own!

Law School...SchoolS!!

So my blog is boycotting my ability to post pictures and video, so this may turn into a "words only" blog :( However we have been having a pretty exciting couple of weeks and I finally have some time to share. (although I am pretty sure everyone already knows where this is going!)

As some of you know Chris has been preparing to go to law school for a while now! Earlier this summer he took the LSAT (159) and has been analyzing and choosing which law schools he was going to apply to ever since. He has been gathering letters of recommendation, transcripts, and personal evaluations to start the application process. A couple of weeks ago he was finally able to apply!! WHOOP! ....and then the waiting started....or so we thought...

We have already heard back from 3 of the 7 law schools he applied to...an AMAZING blessing!
Here is the status of all the law schools he applied to:

Southtexas - pending
University of Houston - pending
University of Tulsa - ACCEPTED
Texas Tech - pending
OU - pending
University of Missouri - ACCEPTED
Oklahoma City University - ACCEPTED

We are headed to law school baby! Now it is not a question of whether we will go, but where we will go. So many options have been coming our way. What a blessing it is to have all of Chris's hard work pay off!

Now we are waiting to see if he will receive scholarships anywhere!Cross your fingers for us!

Old Post that didn't Post!

When Chris and I moved apartments, we moved wards as well. We are now part of the College Station 1st ward. Promptly after joining the ward we were called to be on the Activities Committee. Tonight was our first ward activity and it was awesome. We ate probable the best barbecue chicken we have ever eaten. Everyone was really nice and we met a bunch of new people. We stayed after to clean up and help get everything taken down and then started home. All in all it was a good night...UNTIL...I glanced down at my wedding ring. One of the diamonds was missing. Quickly we decided to say a prayer and headed back to the stake center hoping against hope that the diamond would be able to be found. A member of the ward had just got done sweeping the floor and by some chance he put the trash into a trash can that had just been emptied. Myself and a member of the bishopric started digging through the trash while Chris joined some ofter members of the ward looking on the edges of the gym floor. After about 2 min Brother Hickson said "Is that it right there?" There was my DIAMOND in the middle of the TRASH. It had been swept up not 5 min earlier. What a blessing!!!! We immediately said a prayer thanking heavenly father that we were able to find it. We are taking it in tomorrow to send it out to be put back in the ring!! We must be doing something right!

On another note we are almost moved into our new apartment. One new addition to our furniture was a large floral couch. We traded Jordan and Julia our pull-out couch for the floral one! Needless to say...I am not a floral print person (neither is Chris). SO we covered that sucker with a nice chocolate brown. I am in love with our new couch cover!

Well most of you already know this…but I married a really smart man! But in case you need further proof of his intelligence, Chris received his LSAT scores back and he made a 159!
In case you were wondering…
The current LSAT is scored on a scale of 120 to 180.
The average score is a 150! This means that we are definitely headed to law school!

I am so proud of you sweetie! You are really the best!

It finally happened. Chris has officially GRADUATED from TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY! WHOOP! On May 14, 2010, at 9:34ish am Chris received his diploma. This was a day we had both been looking forward to. Here are the events that happened at his graduation.

A&M has finally wised up and decided it was too much to have a commencement speaker at every graduation ceremony. There were over 6000 graduates this May! They decided that on Thursday, the night before all the graduations began; they would have one big speaking event. For Chris's graduation, the speaker was: General David H. Petraeus, U.S. commander in the war against terrorism in the Middle East and Central Asia. This was really exciting for Chris…and much better than having someone like Obama coming to speak! We went at 5:30 on Thursday night to hear him speak. It was very interesting! He was a really good speaker.

On the day of the ceremony, Chris had to be there early and I wanted to get good seats, so we left pretty early. Well Chris got there on time, but as far as the seating goes, it was pretty crazy. We ended up on the second deck, only we were on the side that faced the back of the graduates as they crossed the stage. BUT we were able to get some great pictures!

We didn't know when Chris would be coming in, or which door he would walk through...all we had to do was wait and search the hundreds of graduates to find Chris! He is the one in the black graduation gown wearing black slacks and a white collared shirt with a green tie...does that help? After about 10 min we found him! Can you see him?

OH WAIT..there he is!

Since the commencement speaker was the night before, things went by (relatively) fast! Here is Chris right before he went on stage. He is telling the announcer (which had an amazing voice btw) what his name was. Apparently, Chris told me later, that they checked to make sure he was actually Christopher Collin Cooper like 7 times before he made it to the stage!

CHRIS GRADUATED!

Once Chris had graduated, there were still over 1/2 of the graduates left. He decided to leave early to let celebrating could begin! Thanks to everyone who was there to support Chris during his big day!

On mine and Chris's way home, we went to get his diploma framed. Myra's was having a special where she could frame the diploma in 1 hour. After we dropped the diploma off, it took about 15 min to get to our apartment. We hadn't even gotten back long enough to change clothes, before she called us and said that the diploma was ready! So I jumped back in the car and went to pick it up!

I love it! and more importantly...Chris loves it! It looks so nice. One of the reasons that he chose this one, was b/c of the coin with the A&M crest in the bottom of the frame! Needless to say, if she is still doing the same style when I graduate...there will be two just like this on our wall!

After everyone oohhhed and awwwwed over the diploma, it was time to celebrate! Chris just wanted to grill steaks and chill at our house so that is exactly what we did. As most of you know our apartment is tiny so we set up some tables outside to eat dinner. I was really worried about the weather, but luckily the rain held off until we had everything cleaned up.
Thanks to everyone who helped with the food! It was EXCELLENT! We had steaks, baked potatoes, rolls, and corn on the cob!

Easter...

OK...so life has been pretty busy as of late. So I am just now getting to my Easter blog post. Easter was over conference weekend so we celebrated by watching conference! We had my brother Bryan and Meredith and Davanee over to watch conference with us. In between the sessions on Saturday I decided that I wanted to dye me some Easter eggs! Davanee especially enjoyed cracking the eggs together. The next day I hid them around the room so she could find them when she came back over!!

Another little something that happened not too recently... My family came down for Spring Break. One morning all of them came over to enjoy some waffles that I made! If you don't know my apartment is not equipped to handle having more than about 6 people at a time...and that is if we use all the rooms!!

While the Fam was here, Hannah and Dalin wanted to watch a movie. So they got the portable DVD player and went into the only room in my house that didn't have anyone in it!!

Spring Break was during March Madness so Chris and David watched some Basketball in the bedroom.

Before my family got there Meredith and I had been working on a petti-skirt for Hannah (my youngest sister!) She picked out the colors herself and I think that it turned out really CUTE!

A little Randomness never hurt anyone...

First off...I did a little Christmas decorating. We aren't going to be in town for Christmas this year, but I still wanted our house to show a little holiday cheer, so I put up a Christmas tree!

I was at the Dollar store and saw this ' Charlie Brown' tree and just had to buy it! The presents you see under the tree are for me and Chris from my parents. Instead of doing one big gift, my mom decided to give us the 12 days of Christmas (not literally, for those of you who watch the office, even though I thought that was pretty cool!!) Each present has a number on it and starting with December 13, we get to open 1 present a day until Christmas! It is way fun!

So here is our "christmas tree"

This topper is the only one I could find at the dollar store. It is pretty much 1/2 the size of the tree. I don't know how it is even staying up there!

Changing topics... this is the random part...I just finished my Floral Art class at A&M. I took it because I needed some more hours in Horticulture and it turned out to be the best class ever! For our final we got into groups of two and had to create LIFESIZE replicas of people from different decades. It didn't have to be a certain person, but it had to symbolize something from that decade. It was way fun! The materials used to create the shape of the 'bodies' was chicken wire, but then we had to cover it with dried plant material. (you could use some clothing if you wanted, but you still had to incorporate plant material)

I really like the detail on this one...the face, hands and feet are rose petals and the hair is corn husks!

This one is from a decade in the 1800s...I think that they picked 1860.

They made theirs completely from cornhusks...

This one is from the 1930s it is depicting a photo titled "The Stooping Man"

This was one one of my favorites they used nothing but plant material as well, but they used a combination of leaves instead of corn husks.

(Personally, I think a flapper would of been more appropriate but what do I really know about the 20s!)

In case you can't tell, this is a bride from the 20s...

Lastly, is the FUTURE!! my group depicted a person from the 2080s! We used all plant material except the alien pet and her neon green hair! On Chris's suggestion we named her Ziggy Stardust... :)

specifically I did the boot all by myself. It is a moon boot with a heel made from sweetgum balls and some random neon green leaves. We didn't even spray paint the leaves this color. They are found that way in nature! On a side note, this took a really, really, really long time. in fact it took so long that we didn't even make a second boot, we just stuck that leg behind a moon rock and called it good. I don't think that it will hurt our grade, b/c it was my profs idea to do it!!

Anyway that was the climax to a great class...if only my other classes had such fun finals. They meet the time consuming criteria, but just not the fun part.
P.S. I missed posting about Thanksgiving...big surprise there...maybe I will post about it later...maybe not...it case (when) the latter happens I'll just tell you we had a great time!

Chris's Aggie Ring Day!

The day had finally arrived November 13, 2009: CHRIS'S RING DAY...a day he has been looking forward to for a very long time. Unfortunately, Chris's ring day started out like any other day...waking up at 6AM to go to work. Ya that kind of sucked...but nothing could stop the smile on Chris's face...even at 6AM.

Luckily while Chris had to go to work I was able to get off. So I went and stood in line to get his Ring Ticket and to pick the time when he wanted to get his ring. 2,500 Aggies were going to get their rings today, so in order to get the time slot you wanted, you had to get there early. I drove Chris to work and then went to stand in line to get the ticket. No one could pull their ticket until 7:15, but when I got there at 6:35, a few hundred people were already waiting in line!! It was crazy. There were people who had camped out over night. Even though there were hundreds of people in front of me, I was still able to get a 4:30 ticket! WHOOP! All this happened before 8, but I still had some things to do. I went home and started prepping things for Chris's Ring Dunking Party (more on that later).

After Chris got off work at 12 we did what he wanted to do...which was pretty much relax, b/c it had been a pretty hard week!! Skip forward to 3:00 and we started to get ready to go and get Chris's ring!! For those who don't know receiving your Aggie ring is more important than walking across the stage to graduate. To qualify for a ring you have to have:

90 completed undergraduate cumulative hours
45 completed undergraduate hours at A&M University
2.0 cumulative GPA
Must not be on academic probation, suspension, dismissal, expulsion, or on honor violation probation from the university.

Since it was such a big deal, we invited Chris's family to come and celebrate with us!

We got there a little early so of course random picture were taken!

Finally the time for Chris to get his ring arrived. We walked into the Alumni building, down the hall where we waited in line with other Aggies whose last name began with 'C'...then it was Chris's turn...WHOOP!!

Chris checking out that the spelling of his name is correct. They were able to engrave his whole name on the inside. This may sound quite impressive but the ring was size 14 3/4 so there was no problem!

One unofficial tradition A&M has connected with receiving the Aggie Ring is a Ring Dunk. Traditionally an Aggie would dunk their ring in a pitcher of beer, aprox 60oz, (hence the tradition is unofficial). Then you would chug down the whole pitcher and catch your new ring in your mouth! Since dunking the ring in alcohol would pose a problem in our marriage (among other things) Chris chose to dunk his ring in his favorite drink: Dr Pepper.

I had Chris's name and date of his ring day engraved on the front. When I get my ring, we will engrave my info on the back!

If you look really closely at the bottom left of the pitcher you can see Chris's ring at the bottom!

My life these last couple of months has been mostly school and work. When I am not writing my next paper or creating a floral design, you will most likely find me learning the scientfic names of plant.

Hort 306: Woody Ornamentals

COURSE DESCRIPTION: here are a few hundred plants...half you need to learn the scientific name, family and common name and description and be able to recoginize by sight (from small clippings). The other half you only need to learn my scientific name and description. have fun!

Halloween Part 2 & Floral Art

Halloween pt 1

It is finally October. For me October means Halloween. I love Halloween. Even though I am 21 I still think it is great fun to play dress up! Last year me and chris went with some friends to the anual institute party. Our group went as the characters from the boardgame Clue. We were Professor Plum and Mrs. Peacock.

For those wondering, YES that is my real hair...I just styled it to look like a short curly do!

This year I think that I will be the greek goddess hera. I am making my own outfit and doing my own hair. I have already started putting the pieces together. For my hair I was going to curl it or buy some hot rollers to get a curled updo. Then I thought of rag rollers. I decieded to try them out last night just to see what they would do to my hair. Here is what I found out!

I didn't get a chance to style it this morning...but I did find out that I had Shirley Temple curls! More to come on the actual styling later.

I am still trying to get chris to dress up with me this year. He really isn't the dress up type...if you know what I mean!

My Husband... The BUS DRIVER!

Another Aggie football game = Another Aggie victory...although I was a little pissed to find out that we only won by 8. When I left the game we were ahead 38 – 17. Why you might ask would I leave an aggie football game early, even if we were winning? Am I a 2% er? NO…there is only one logical answer why anyone should leave a football game early….I AM A BUS DRIVER (or in my case… MY HUSBAND IS A BUS DRIVER)!! I am proud to say that my husband, Chris, makes an excellent bus driver. He loves his job. Pretty much b/c he gets to sit and drive all day and listen to music! I usually ride with him after the games! Who would of thought that riding on a bus at night rocking out to dépêche mode would be so dang cool! Another reason Chris loves his job is b/c he has really good supervisors.

The only downside to driving A&M busses is that you have to drive for some of the football game. This means that you arrive a little late and have to leave a little early. Hence we left the game with 7 minutes left thinking that the Aggies had played pretty good and at least won by 21 point. Little did we know that they would slack off and give 13 more points to utah state (HISSSSSSSSSS). I guess at least we won, but the Aggies need to step it up….b/c there are plenty of games left and luckily, Chris only has to drive for 2 more of them!! WHOOP!

P.S. about half way through the game we noticed one of the coaches on the utah state team (HIIIISSSSSSS) had an exceptionally impressive mullet! We just had to take a picture! This thing is amazing!

College Football season has arrived and A&M started out with a bang!

Final Score: A&M 44 NM 6....and it looks like A&M has a chance to win more games as well. We had a pretty good passing game. Our running capabilities suffered at the beginning, but towards the end we looked OK. All in all it looks we could have a pretty good season on our hands. Cross your fingers for the Aggies!

One Year Down...an Eternity to Go! HOW EXCITING!

It's official, Chris and I have been married for one year and can I say that it has been one of the best years EVER! Chris is the best. Since our anniversary was on a Sunday, Chris decided to celebrate for two day, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday morning Chris went and helped move one of our friends into their new duplex and when he got home, he was carrying FLOWERS and the ingredients to make homemade pizza AND cheescake! He is so sweet. As most of you know, my favorite flowers are Gladiolus. Chris brought home 20 stems. Each stem has about 10+ flowers on it, so in reality he brought me home 200+ flowers!!

Also, a new movie came out on Friday, Julie and Julia. I really wanted to see it, but it is a Chick Flick and I don't make Chris go and watch those with me. Usually I take my sister but she is back home for a couple of weeks. However, Chris took me to see Julie and Julia! He sat through the entire movie...good thing we had popcorn and Cherry Coke!

That evening, we had some friend over and just hung out.

Sunday Chris woke up and started to make the pizza crust. Thanks to Stephen and Lou for the recipe. It almost didn't work. Half way through, Chris realized that we didn't have enough flour to complete the recipe. It would of been tragic, but luckly, we had some friends that lived close and we were able to borrow some flour! Then the pizza crust wouldn't stick together to form a ball. There just seemed to be problem after problem. Then things started to work out. We even made it to church on time.

After church, I made some breadsticks. It was our first time to make them and they turned out really great. While we ate dinner we watched Hero! An excellent movie that we both love. After that we went and hung out with some friends.

Well the bad part of summer, aka summer school, is just about over. Me and Chris have two more tests, and an oral presentation left, all due by next Thursday! Then it is off to celebrate our anniversary and just have a good time.
Last weekend we decided to start things off early and went on the Annual Float the River trip with our ward. It was way fun and since we were in the water I only have ONE picture. Here are a few facts about the trip:

Fact: We carpooled with some of our friends; Brett and Stephanie! And had a fun time
Fact: The traffic was so bad in New Braunfels that it took us 30 min longer than normal to get there
Fact: I had to really pee while we were in bad traffic. I saw a couple of porta potties. I jumped out of the car, ran across two lanes of on-coming traffic and made it back to the car before it had moved very far!
Fact: This time we applied sunscreen and didn’t get burned
Fact: Usually I am freezing when we float the river, this time I was fine b/c it was over 100 degrees outside
Fact: The river was VERY crowded
Fact: I have never seen so many drunks in my life!
Fact: We ate at Clear Springs after the float and it was fantastic!
Fact: After Clear Springs, I just had to have some ice-cream, so we went to Freddie’s Frozen Custard and had some!
Fact: It was a blast!

So I have found some time to blog about our fantastic Fourth of July! Me and Chris spent the day doing things that we both wanted to do. We slept in till about 10, then we played Rockband. Usually when we play we take turns picking out which songs we want, but this time we just let the game select songs at random. It worked pretty good, but some songs we just can’t figure out why they even made it on to the game. For instance, “Electric Version” by The New Pornographers. Has anyone even heard of this group?? And Why would anyone call there band the pornographers in the first place???
After Rockband we went out to lunch at Southern Café. It is kind of a little hole on the wall the Chris had eaten at with some of his friends. I had never eaten there, but Chris said that the food was really good. I would have to agree. Everything was homemade. YUM…I hope we go and eat there again! After lunch we went home and played “Pimp My Ride.” It is way ghetto. The graphics are bad, but we both love it. It was pretty fun, we both played a level. Then I decided to make a pie. (I just realized how random this blog is sounding…but that is kind of how the day went, plus I really don’t want to go back and re-word everything) This was my first time to attempt a pie. I have always heard that the crust is the hardest part. Normally, I would ask my mom for her recipe, but she is in Colorado for the week, so I decided to go online and see if I could find one. I found this one and I really like it: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Basic-Flaky-Pie-Crust/Detail.aspx . I only made a cherry pie, because the filling is already prepared for you, but in the end I think it turned out really great. The only problems I had were rolling out the dough, but it only took one bad try for me to figure it out, and the crust didn’t get done all the way. However, it tastes amazing, which is really all that matters anyway!!

Later on that evening, we went and cooked out with some friends.

After dinner, we went to the George Bush Library to watch the fireworks. While we were sitting out in the grass waiting for the fireworks to start the sprinklers suddenly came on! Luckly we made a quick run for it, and didn't get wet. A lot of the kids we way excited to be able to play in the sprinklers!

Earlier that week, I found a great deal on some glowsticks, so I bought enough for the whole group.

I love Fourth of July! I love America!...even if I don't agree with our president right now....

A Day of Chris

Last Saturday was Chris's Birthday!! As usual I am a little late on getting a blog up of his birthday, but better late than never! Chris's birthday celebration started early on Wednesday. I had told chris that we were going to celebrate at our house with a bunch of our friends...when in reality, I had planned to surprise him at my brothers house. He knew there would be a celebration, he just didn't know when or where! Everything went according to plan...I had to go visiting teaching that night with a girl who lived close to my brothers house. On our way home, I called to see if he could pick me up there instead of her driving me home. He was a little concerned, b/c people were supposed to be arriving at our house soon, but he believed my BS and drove over to get me. He was really surprised. At this party we ate yellow cake with chocolate icing and an oreo creme pie! Both are on Chris's short list of cakes that he likes! After some presents, we played some games. This was on Wednesday..Oh I forgot to mention that while I was visiting teaching, Chris was watching WIPEOUT with the husband of my visiting teaching partner! (don't worry kyle... I was able to catch up and watch the wipout epsiode the next day). That weekend we went to Houston. Saturday was Chris's day! We woke up early to go and play disc golf. Normally I would not consent to waking up at 8:30 on a Saturday...but after about 10 it is too dang hot to go and play! On the way to disc golf, we stopped at an amazing donut shop where we had donuts and crescent roll kolaches! YUM they were the best I ever had. Only Chris, John, Liz and I were able to go and play, but we had a blast! (the only pics I have of Chr's birthday golf experience are those from Liz's camera, but I was only e-mailed ones of me and chris, so that is why there aren't any Of Liz and John. I did however pull some pics of Chris playing earlier golf games!)

This is at our first hole of the day! ...on a side note, you prob can't tell, but that is a Buckee's shirt I am wearing! Everytime we go to Houston, we pass Buckee's Billboards we always say we will stop and get a shirt, but never have. For those who don't know, Buckee's is just a gas station, but the shirts are pretty cool! So this time, when we passed to billboards, I said we should stop and we DID. Now chris and I both have Buckee's t-shirts.

After about the 10th I was getting pretty hot, so I decided to spice things up and theme some holes. The first hole was themed Maria Sharapova. See if you can pick out why?

Well we thought that one was pretty cool so then Chris came up with the second theme hole: Olympic Shot Putters...

We had a really good time playing disc golf. Liz had an alergic reaction, so we weren't able to finish the game, but that didn't really matter because we were all really hot and ready to get in a pool! That is exactly what we did as soon as we got home. After we had swam, everyone else was home, so we all went out to lunch at Brother's Pizza! Thanks Chris for picking such a scrumtrelescent place to eat! After Brothers, it time for the pool again! Chris's birthday day ended with his favorite meal and more presents. Can anyone guess what Chris wanted for his meal???

...if you guessed Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, rolls, and white gravy, then you know Chris as well or better than I do.

We topped it all off with German Chocolate Cake! Mmmmmmmmmm!

Happy Birthday Chris! I am so glad I was able to celebrate with you. You are a fantastic husband! I love you so much. I am so proud of you for all that you have accomplished and your drive to be successful in life. I know you will do well at anything you set your mind to! I am glad that you hold the priesthood. It is a blessing to have you with me for eternity!! I Love You.

Tonight me and Chris went and saw the new Pixar movie UP. It was really funny. I loved it a lot. One of the best aspects of it was the fact that it wasn't just another funny movie, it actually had a story line and brought out emotions in the viewer. I would recommend this movie to anyone. Another interesting fact, one of our friends, Nicholas Naugle was actually interning at Pixar when they were making this movie. He mainly helped with the short film, Partly Cloudy. If you go, you should look for his name in the credits of the short film before the movie. He worked with lighting.

OH we also watched it in 3D! here we are sporting our glasses. I think we would fit in with the Blues Brothers. Chris thinks we resemble Elvis Costello! Either way I was glad to take them off when the movie was over!

On another note we took our monthly trip to the temple and of course stayed at Lou and Steve-O's house. When we weren't in the temple, you could prob find us out in the pool. Chris decided to lay out with Lou and soak up some sun!

Well tomorrow my summer is officially over. We start summer classes...! So...not that you would, but don't expect a blog for some time!!

Stuff You Might of Missed

I just started a new job, WHOOP!. I am one of three student workers that work in the Dean of Student Life's office. Sounds really fun and exciting right....Well lets just say that I am blogging at work, which should tell you two things...ONE I have a lot of down time right now and TWO I am really bored...because I am blogging(something that I never do :)!

This blog is pretty much just a couple things that have happened in the last little bit...

Recently Bryce aka Tiny, one of my friends from College Station, graduated for fire academy. (i have no idea if that is even what you call it). One evening friends and family were able to go and see what the student had been up too. Pretty much it was a chance for a bunch of student to light stuff on fire and them shoot it with tons and tons of water! It was pretty intense (insert here a joke chris usually tells[it was pretty intense...so is camping!]). Anyway here are some pics of the evening...

Chris and I went up to Paris for my birthday and introduced my family to the wonderful and exciting game of Disc Golf!! They really loved it and have become so addicted that they made up there own course at the ranch (using 5 gallon buckets) and are now a serious threat when we go and play with them. By the way Thanks to all for my Brithday presents! I love birthdays, especially mine and can't wait for chris's, June 20!!! Oh and today Happy Birthday LIZ!

Like with most sports that are some obstacles that you have to conquer! Mark got his disk stuck in the bushes...on a side not, chris thought he lost his favorite disk yesterday on the first hole. He spent the better part of an hour trying to find it, only to learn that one of his friends had found it and was going to give it to him the next time he saw them..."information that would have been useful an hour ago".

At least, Just like Mark, Chris got his disk back!

DAVANEE MARIE MURDOCK

Today was a special day. Not only because it is Easter, but also because we blessed my little niece today in church. I have not mentioned Davanee before on the blog, so let me tell you a little about her. She was born on February 24 and at 7 lbs 13 oz, she was perfect! (this statement necessitates an exclamation point) Here she is with her proud father, my brother Bryan.

While she was still in the hospital, me and Chris were able to go and see her. Only I held here at the hospital. Anyone that knows Chris would understand why. However, I was able to convince him to hold her after a few weeks!

Today, Easter Sunday, was the day we blessed Davanee in church. All of my family was there and most of Meredith's. As you can see, when my family gets together it is no small thing, however, we were able to squeeze everyone into a picture!

Davanee was blessed by her father. For the occasion, Meredith's mom made a special blessing dress for her to wear. Davanee had been calm all morning, but when it was time for the blessing she started to cry. I guess she doesn't like to be man-handled. To her credit, she did stop crying about half way through the blessing.

All in all a wonderful day. Happy Easter!

For the last couple of weeks, Chris and I have been doing nothing but wedding. Which means that we have been taking lots of blog pictures, but haven't been able to find the time to post them. Until now...
We'll start where we left off, Right after the ward tubing trip. As you all know we were both really sunburned, now you get to see the pictures to prove it.

First is my burn. These are my feet the day after. The reason there is only one picture of me is because mine was nothing compared to Chris's (see pictures below). For those of you who know chris seeing him sunburned is a rare occasion so feel lucky. Good thing in my opinion, cause when he burns, he goes all the way!

And if that wasn't enough if you look on his back on the left and right side where it is really red, that is a mixture of sunburn and a rash from the tube rubbing against his skin. OUCH!
After a few days, it did what all sunburns usually do...PEELED. guess who got to rub lotion all over his back when this happened!? you guessed it, his loving fiance who would do anything for him. For those who don't know i have a peeling process when you get sunburned this bad. First we went into the shower and i rubbed, ever so gently across his back. This helps get rid of the loose skin. That way when I lotion it, i won't get pieces of skin all over my hand and the skin that needs the lotion will absorb it.

So we went to the tub and I rubbed his back. I didn't know that his back was going to fall off into the tub. as you can see, he had a lot of loose skin...and some of came off in BIG pieces.

After we were done rubbing, his back looked ten times better, but as you can see from the picture it still hurt a lot. Then came the rubbing in the lotion...and more rubbing...and more rubbing. Although it took a while, we were able to get his back, back to normal! and now he is PEACHY. i just hope that when we tube again this weekend that this won't get so nasty. :)

OK part 2...a week after the tubing trip, we were able to go up to Tyler, TX to get some wedding shopping done. My brother, Aaron and his wife Natalie, live in Tyler. Since it is kind of a middle point for my family and me, my mom was able to drive down and we were able to meet her to do the wedding shopping. The main thing we were looking for was the cake stand! My mom is making my wedding cake (in case you were wondering my mom is amazing), but she did not have a stand to put the cake on. Our only hope was Michaels. Luckily we were able to find exactly what we wanted. A three tired cake stand with 2-2in round drums in the center instead of columns. Around the drums, we are going to put pictures of us! We were also able to find some amazing ribbon that is working great on our announcements. After the shopping was done, it was time to play. All of my siblings were able to come up with mom which was really cool. One thing we all love to do as a family is SWIM.

Here we area swimming, obviously not all my siblings were present! and i would name off the people in the picture, but this blog is getting too long already!

I will name these next two towel heads, CHRIS AND REBECCA COOPER. We were acting like nerds, per usual!

and finally, some of ya'll know that i was made a sister again a few months ago. Lets just say that Dalin is fitting into the family very nicely!

Tubing Down the Guadalupe

Today was a pretty cool day. We woke up early and headed out with all the young singles from both university wards to go tubing down the Guadalupe River. I had never done anything like this, so i was way excited. After we stopped for donuts, we headed out. Chris was the man and drove us the 2 1/2 hours there and back. To cut back on gas we carpooled with my roomate, Cheylee, her fiance Dave (who chris now works with at Reynolds and Reynolds) and daves sister, Sarah.

This pic is here, because we saw some beautiful trees on the way there and Chris was so amazed that we had to take a picture. I figured his amazement made the trees blog worthy...
So anyways, after we got there they wanted us to have lunch. Which meant that we had to wait for an hour while everyone pretended to be hungry and ate the sandwiches that were provided. It was 11 in the morning, so i had a cookie and was full...GGGGAAAAAYYYY! Then we were informed that instead of the 2 hours that we were supposed to float, we were going to have the privileged of floating for 4 hours. This is Chris after he heard the news!

Since we were already there, we couldn't protest by not going, so we doubled our sunblock and hoped for the best. Apparently our best was not good enough. If only the ride could've been 2 hours, it would of been perfect. This was not the case, so now me and Chris are fried lobsters and Chris even has a bit of tube rash across his back. GGGAAAAAAAYYYYY!!! But we ended up having a blast! We got to hang out with all our friends and even my older brothers and their wives came with us. Also there was this cool rope swing at the end that i swung off of. Chris who has had a bad history with rivers and swings decided to save himself the trouble of another hospital trip and floated on ahead. There were also some way cool rapids that spit you out at the end. All in all a good time, except we are so burnt. So to make up for the burns, we decided to go and eat at the Gristmill. It was way good and the atmosphere was cool. We were sitting up pretty high and looking down on the river. The only drawback was that there was not any air conditioning, so we were all still simmering from our burns. Here is us at the Gristmill...

on a side note, take a look at Aaron's shirt. What you see in the picture is I LOVE MY WIFE. What you don't see is that in an orange-ish font color it really says I LOVE it when MY WIFE lets me go hunting! So true!

For the record: me and Chris have 55 more days till we get married!!!! And my wedding dress will be here MONDAY!

Aggie Baseball

Topic: Aggie Baseball
Some of you are under the impression that chis and I have not attended an Aggie Baseball game this season...
Fact: On the 31st of May in the year 2008, Chris, Rebecca, and friends sat in the Boiling heat, 101 degrees, and watched the Texas Aggies CRUSH Houston! Final score: 22 to 4. It was amazing! We scored 6 homeruns in ithe game and 12 runs in the 7th inning

For the Record: we have been kind of slacking when it comes to physically supporting Ag Baseball, but in our defense, we are planning a wedding and have been gone for the last 5 weekends! Enjoy the Pics

Polo Club

In 71 days, Chris and I will be married for time and all eternity! :) Then we will finally get to move into our own apartment together. A few months ago this would have been a problem because we didn't have an apartment to move into. We knew we needed to find one pretty quick cause it was prime time for people to be getting notice of the end of their leases. SO we started looking. We were really blessed because in about 3 days after we started looking, we came across Polo Club Apartments!

There we found a comfortably sized one bedroom apartment at a reasonable price. We signed the lease the next day! :) Problem solved...or so we thought. We didn't have any furniture to fill our apartment.Luckily the Lord was looking out for us. The week after we signed the lease one of our friends, Brad, called us and said that one of the guys he works with was getting rid of his couch and did we need one. Did we ever! So we went and looked at it...

and then we had a couch! It is really comfortable. I love the color of the cover, but even if we had to use the blue color underneath, we could because it is still a good looking couch! We were feeling really good about our apartment now, but we had no idea what the next week would bring. Almost one week later, Chris was at work and got an email from his bishop that one of the girls in his ward was moving to soon to sell her stuff and was giving away two recliners and a couch. Chris called right away, because he really wanted some recliners. He even had his roommate, who was good friends with this girl, call and plead our case. We then got a call back and found out that we could choose to have the recliners, or the couch. So I went to look at them...

and Chris got his wish of having recliners, and i got one too!

They are almost in brand new condition!! By now we were just amazed that we have furnished our apartment just by blessings. That got us thinking about what else we could put in our apartment. What else could we use...a coffee table! We began looking around for one, since we both love to put our feet up we figured it would be a good idea to have one! A few weeks went by and i randomly found one that i fell in love with on craigslist. However, they wanted $75 for it, and i wasn't willing to pay that much for it. Then the next week i looked again, just in case it was still there and it was! Not only was it posted, but it was also $25 cheaper! I emailed the seller, and went and looked at it the next day...

It is way cool! the top is slate squares that are removable, and the bottom is a black steel frame! Plus it is only 3 months old! I LOVE IT. plus in case anyone hasn't noticed, all of our furniture matches!!! We were so excited to move into our new place, now we are even more excited cause we have furniture to put in it!

We have two double door closets :) that's our definition of comfortable but reasonably priced :)

ENGAGEMENT PICTURES

Last weekend Chris and I went to Houston to take our engagement pictures! We would like to give a HUGE thank you to Steve-O, Lu, Julia and Jordan for helping us make the pictures look amazing. Also another BIG thank you to Julia for letting us borrow her camera!

Howdy! Ya I said Howdy. I am still trying to get used to it, since becoming an Aggie (whoop!). This is me and Chris's first blog! ya! We figured since I am getting closer to becoming a Cooper everyday, we are doing all that we can to make it a smooth transition. :) Hence the blog! and we want all of you to know that we thought long and hard about the name of this blog spot. we think we came up with a pretty good one :) As for the upkeep of this wonderful blog...we will do the best we can, but we are college students who are in love and planning a wedding, so we can already guarantee (since it isn't the weekend) that we will not be as faithful as Mel (the blogger of all bloggers!)
